About Erin
As your Lake County Circuit Court Clerk, Erin Cartwright Weinstein continues to make needed improvements, making the office more efficient and responsive. E-Filing had been implemented, and a new case magagement system is coming online this fall. Digitally processing documents improves access to justice and helps to protect our environment. The Office of the Circuit Court Clerk is the first in Lake County to obtain artificial intelligence, which increases speed throughout our court system. Clerk trainings have been improved, and financial transparency remains a priority. In four years, Erin has made the office significantly better on behalf of our community.
Erin lives in Gurnee with her husband and dogs. She graduated from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana in 1995 with a B.A. in Anthropology/Sociology with a Minor in Business Administration; and completed her J.D. at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1999. Since graduation, Erin has dedicated her legal career to Lake County. She joined the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office as an Assistant State’s Attorney in 2000, Chausow Shafer PC, in Highland Park as an Associate Attorney in 2005, and opened her own law firm in 2009 where she practiced until she won the election for Circuit Court Clerk in 2016.
Erin enjoys being involved in our community and is a member of: Association of Women Attorneys of Lake County, Lake County Bar Association, W.I.N.G.S. (Women Interested in Government Service), National Association of Court Management, National Center for State Courts, President-Elect of the Illinois Association for Court Clerks, and Vice-President of the Illinois Association for County Officials. She also serves on the executive board for the Coalition to Reduce Recidivism, the executive steering committee for Women United (a sub-chapter of United Way) and was the 2018 Chair of Lake County Cares.
